OCCASION is a light and shadow installation that explores the intricate ambiguity between reality and perception. In an era marked by constant confusion, OCCASION invites viewers to question the nature of what they see. Are we curtain in our truth or are we shaped more by our beliefs, memories, and experiences than by any objective reality?
Through shifting forms of light and shadow, OCCASION blurs the boundaries between what is real and what is imagined, challenging our ability to discern the difference. It is a contemplation on consciousness in a split world where impressions deceive, and where the line between perception and reality is ever-fluid.
The installation becomes not just a visual experience, but a space for introspection, prompting us to confront the fragility of our understanding and to seek clarity in the midst of uncertainty.

As a visual artist and sculptor, Simo Ripatti strives to subtly and modestly shed light on subjects that are difficult to put into words. Space and its use are almost always active elements in his works. The impact of Ripatti’s works arises from their quiet and minimalistic character. The stillness and minimalism in his works make one stop and find answers for what the work actually is.
Ripatti graduated from Lahti Institute of Fine Arts in 2009 and from the Finnish Academy of Fine arts in 2011.
