As a reflection on our dynamic times, PORTICUS asks questions about how stable and permanent our states, religions and institutions are.
PORTICUS is an ephemeral space where solid architectural elements such as columns become light and fog and, in this way, ask us questions about the foundations of our society.

Erik Mátrai has been experimenting with space and light for many years, with the aim of capturing the experience of spiritual transcendence, evoking different religious or cultural references. His work, which engages simple symbols and paraphrases, is primarily inspired by personal experience. The continuously reappearing elements — roaring water, fire, sea, plays of light and luminous phenomena — reflect Mátrai’s intention to create works that evoke experiences that shape consciousness, inspire tranquility and are conducive to meditation.
